Too much strong or long distance enemies? Use Quick Attacks!!!
At Isla Cruses, the CPU had taught you to use sneak attack. Still Remember it? Just sneak close enough so you will see a skull (You know, the Pirates of Caribbean Trademark) above the enemy's head. Press X button and WHAM!!! It's a great victory, especially for the strong and pesky some.
Well then, some enemies, (I mean, ALL enemies!) need a moment to attack, because they need it to charge some energy before unleash the wicked attack to you. In the "Charging Moment", you can see the skull too. Then, press X! It wouldn't as effective as the sneak attack, but it is very useful to avoid the attack PLUS attack it freely.
When you use it, your character will jump from the ground with an explosion (I don't know is it dynamite to thrust the jump or to distract the enemy or just an visual effect.) and jump over the enemy's head, then slash him with a powerful sword-wielding. If I am not mistaken, it could replace 10 normal sword slash.
Do you remember the zombie pirates who use scythes as weapons? Their soul is "free" after you attack their zombie body. Yes, their soul body is really hard to destroy. I mean, they could dematerialize after you slash him twice, the maximal slashes could be done. Then, you should use the quick attack. Twice would do for their zombie body. And it is effective for them. Why? Because the quick way to defeat the soul body is a sneak attack. The quick attack will help you to make your position behind them. Keep it, until the soul body appear, and WHAM!!! Powerful sneak attack!!!
To be noted, some of the enemies could be very quick in attacking. For example, the axe men and hammer men at the black Sand Beach. They could chop you when you are in a mid-distance. In close distance, they could stab you. Even, when they block your attacks, they could punch you with their weapons. So, if you fast enough, you can do the quick attacks on them. Trust me, it really works!!!
And it could works on the bomber men too! When they are preparing to throw the bomb, use it!
